Dr. Zulick Joins Carthage Area Hospital’s Medical Staff
Carthage Area Hospital is pleased to welcome Board Certified General Surgeon, Dr. Lewis C. Zulick, M.D., M.M.M., FACS to its medical staff effective April 2019. Dr. Zulick will provide necessary coverage for patients in need of general surgery in the North Country. He will be seeing patients out of the Carthage Surgical Clinic, 1001 West St. Carthage, NY.
Dr. Zulick received his M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, NY in 1984 followed by an internship in General Surgery at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. His postgraduate training continued with a residency at University of Rochester, Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY, and Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, where he was chief resident from 1988-1989. Dr. Zulick also completed his Masters in Medical Management in 2005 from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Zulick is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is part of the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeon Society. He also served three years active duty in the U.S. Navy and 8 years in the Navy Reserves.
Prior to coming to Carthage Area Hospital, Dr. Zulick was the President and CEO of Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic from 2013-2015 and is currently serving as Chief of Surgery at Rochester Regional Health.
Dr. Zulick specializes in minimally-invasive and laparoscopic general surgery to include breast surgery. He also specializes in varicose vein treatment and a specialized hemorrhoid treatment surgery.
“I’m from a small town in Pennsylvania. I’ve always practiced in a rural area throughout my career. I like the small town setting because it’s a little more personal. It’s important to have the same standard of care at a smaller facility. I’m also really enjoying seeing active duty again.” said Zulick.
Dr. Zulick enjoys spending his summers on Wellesley Island with his real estate agent wife, Cheryl, and three grown children.
