Free Health Screenings, Valuable Education, Picnic Lunch Set for Saturday, July 14
A healthy dose of education may be just the right prescription to help maintain wellness and finally live your best life.
Carthage Area Hospital is pleased to invite the public to its 4th annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carthage Farmers Market Pavilion, Riverside Drive. The pavilion is located at the end of Riverside Drive next to Carthage Area Rescue Squad.
Enjoy a fun-filled day of valuable health education, screenings and information for the entire family. Here’s what’s on tap this year:
- Posture and fall screenings with the Therapy Services Team — know your risks for falls and learn how to maintain a healthy, comfortable posture.
- Learn about Carthage Area Hospital’s clinical collaborations with Upstate Brain & Spine for neurosurgical care and an expanded general surgery program with Synergy Surgicalists.
- Talk with clinical staff and representatives from the Urology, Primary Care, Women’s Way to Wellness, Behavioral Health, Medical Imaging and Dental Sealant teams.
- Visit with a Registered Dietitian from the Clinical Nutrition Team and learn about healthy body mass targets and safe weight management practices. Gain information about diabetes prevention and education, self-management for people living with diabetes, important numbers to watch, food models, and healthy meals and eating.
- Meet the Program Manager for our the Health Home care Management Program and learn how Carthage Area Hospital is linking community and social supports with health care.
- Meet with representatives from Elizabeth Wende Breast Care, the North Country Prenatal/Perinatal Council and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
- Meet with a certified Medicaid enrollment specialist and learn how to obtain health coverage.
- Obtain insurance information from Martin’s Point Health Care and MVP Health Care.
- Enjoy a FREE picnic lunch from our Dietary Services Team, including: subs, salads, fresh fruit and water.
- Children’s activities and giveaways — Visit each booth for a sticker to receive free gifts!
The Carthage Community Health Fair is a population health initiative presented by Carthage Area Hospital as a community service and sponsored by WWNY TV 7 and WNYF Fox 28. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
About Carthage Area Hospital
Carthage Area Hospital was established as a not-for-profit rural community hospital in 1965. It operates today as a fully accredited 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, serving approximately 83,000 residents in Jefferson, northern Lewis and southern St. Lawrence counties. The hospital formed a clinical affiliation with Crouse Health, Syracuse, in 2017.
The hospital also operates a network of community-based clinics, including its Philadelphia Medical Center, Family Health Center, Pediatric Clinic and Women’s Way to Wellness and provides a range of specialty care, including general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, urology, neurosurgical care, physical and occupational therapy and behavioral health.
