Dr. Frank Harvey/JoAnn Zando Healthcare Scholarship
Available to High School Seniors
The Carthage Area Hospital Foundation (CAHF) is now accepting applications for its annual Dr. Frank Harvey & JoAnn Zando Healthcare Scholarship. The annual scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors from Carthage High School, Beaver River High School, LaFargeville High School, as well as any graduating high school senior of a Carthage Area Hospital employee. Awardees must plan to pursue a career in healthcare, either in a clinical or supportive role. A scholarship selection committee consisting of several Foundation Board Members determines awardees after a thorough review of each applicant’s academic and scholastic record, leadership skills, community involvement, communication skills and overall interest in a healthcare career.
The Dr. Frank Harvey & JoAnn Zando Healthcare Scholarship is named after two individuals who dedicated their lives to improving health care for North Country residents. Dr. Frank Harvey was a longtime family physician who practiced in Northern New York at Family Practice Associates until his untimely death in 2009 at the age of 51. JoAnn Zando was a longtime Carthage Area Hospital Foundation employee who at the time of her death in 2017, served as Development Manager for the Carthage Area Hospital Foundation.
