OB Registered Nurse Kaydie Lyndaker Recognized
Each year, Carthage Area Hospital celebrates Nurses Week & Hospital Week, which dates overlap in the month of May. This year, the hospital debuted its first DAISY Award honoree, recognizing Maternity Registered Nurse, Kaydie Lyndaker.
“I have butterflies. I didn’t expect to win at all,” said Kaydie Lyndaker, RN.
DAISY Award organizer, Susan Smith, RN hosted a small gathering to announce the inaugural winner on Tuesday, May 11th , 2021. Throughout 2020, the hospital received 28 DAISY nominations. Over half of those nominations were submitted by patients.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity to recognize the best in our profession. We received some amazing stories from patients. Given the fact, we debuted the program close to when the pandemic hit our nation, this award means more than people know. Kaydie was nominated by a patient who was struggling with breastfeeding. She was patient, kind, and helpful. Kaydie is well-deserving of this award and we’re incredibly grateful to have her on our team,” said Susan Smith, OB Nurse Manager and DAISY Organizer.
Twice a year, an independent committee selects an exemplary nurse for the DAISY Award from the nominations sent in throughout the year. Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues.
“The hospital started the DAISY Award Program as a way to honor nurses who go above and beyond. These nurses embody the hospital’s values and offer exemplary patient care,” said Steve Olson, RN, Nursing Administrator.
When asked about her favorite part of her job, Lyndaker replied, “The one-on-one patient care and spending that time with them during the most important time of their life.”
Lyndaker is thankful to Carthage Hospital for supporting her and giving her all the tools to be successful.
