2017 Calendar:

January:

  • Orthopedics

Dr. Nata Parnes is an upper extremity orthopedic specialist. Dr. Parnes and staff will be on hand to answer any questions regarding any upper extremity complaints.

Dr. Nata Parnes is the Director of Orthopedics at Carthage Area Hospital. He has received national and international awards for excellence in his field. He completed two years of fellowship training in Shoulder, Elbow, and Upper Extremities in the Harvard Shoulder Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He also trained with leading experts in France, England, and Switzerland.

Dr. Parnes is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been a member of the Carthage Community for approximately 7 years. He has published multiple papers and co-authored several book chapters on shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, advanced hand treatment, and fracture treatment around the shoulder and upper extremities.

 

 

February:

  • Heart Health with food demonstration

February is American Heart Month.

Our Registered Dietician will be on hand to answer any questions regarding nutrition and heart health. There will be a healthy meal demonstration.

Carthage Area Hospital’s team of Registered Dietitians (RD) guide patients in living a healthy lifestyle. They offer a personalized approach to meet patients’ individual nutrition needs, and create eating plans that are easy to follow and monitor.

Registered Dietitians (RD) are food and nutrition experts who provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition education for a variety of medical conditions.

 

March:

  • Importance of Colorectal Screenings

Experts from Carthage Family Health Center will be on hand to provide information on the importance of colorectal screenings.

 

 

April:

  • Occupational Therapy Month

It’s Occupational Therapy Month.

An Occupational Therapist will be on hand to discuss the importance of occupational therapy.

A Social Worker or Health Counselor will be on hand to discuss a variety of behavioral health questions. (anxiety, depression, ect.)  and assist people with various emotional and psychiatric problems.

The Carthage Area Behavioral Health Center, operated by Carthage Area Hospital, is designed to assist people with various emotional and psychiatric problems. We are located at 3 Bridge St. in the Carthage Area Hospital Professional Building.  

 

June:

  • Men’s Health Month

Healthcare providers will be on site to discuss the importance of men’s health. Stop by to learn preventative measure to ensure a healthy life.

 

 

July:

  • School Based Health & Immunization Information for School Aged Children

Learn about our School based health center program, as well as learn what immunizations are required for school aged children.

 

August:

  • National Breastfeeding Month

Learn about the importance of breastfeeding. Experts from our Women’s Way to Wellness Clinic will be on hand to answer questions about breastfeeding.

 

September:

  • Balance & Fall Program

A Physical Therapist will be on site to test your agility and your risk of falling.

 

October:

  • Breast Cancer Awareness and Physical Therapy Month

Our Staff from our OBGYN Clinic, Women’s Way to Wellness will be on hand to answer any questions regarding breast cancer and other women’s health issues.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States (other than skin cancer). But millions of women are surviving the disease thanks in part to early detection and improvements in treatment.

A Physical Therapist will also be on site to answer any questions about Physical or Occupational Therapy treatment.

 

November:

  • Diabetes Education

Our Registered Dietician will be on hand to answer any questions regarding diabetes or nutritional inquiries. We also have a free Diabetes Education Program for those with Diabetes.

  • Handling Holiday Stress and “Weigh of Life” Weight Management Program Promotion

It’s a tough time of year and you’re bound to get stressful. Stop by to learn how to relieve stress during the holidays, as well as holistic care options.

A clinical nutritionist will also be on site to promote the community wide weight management program called “weigh of life”.
