29th Annual Carthage Savings & Loan Association Golf Classic Draws 152 Golfers, Raises $27k
The Carthage Area Hospital Foundation posted exceptional results as it hosted 152 golfers in the 29th annual Carthage Savings and Loan Association Golf Classic at Carlowden Country Club last month.
“Golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the course while helping to raise money for state-of-the-art equipment that will help our surgical teams care for many people in our communities,” said Natalie Burnham, Carthage Area Hospital Foundation executive director. “We value the generosity of our many tournament sponsors and sincerely appreciate everyone who spent the day out of the office for a great cause.”
All fundraising efforts from the Golf Classic — special hole contests, auction items, participation, generous donations and partnerships — benefit the Carthage Area Hospital Foundation and its mission to ensure that Carthage Area Hospital continues to deliver quality local health care for its communities.
This year’s tournament raised nearly $27,000, which will help the hospital’s Ambulatory Surgical Unit purchase a high-definition operating room imaging tower. The roughly $92,000 equipment package delivers superior image-viewing for surgeons while they perform endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. It also enables surgeons to capture high-definition photos and video and share imagery across multiple hospital networks.
Carthage Area Hospital and its foundation leadership credit the tournament’s lasting success to the continued support of presenting sponsor Carthage Savings and Loan Association and its executive team. Officials also thank Kinney Drugs, which has generously sponsored this year’s post-tournament dinner, and hole-in-one-level sponsor Alliance Healthcare Radiology.
This year set a new record for pledged support with 43 sponsors who gave gifts of cash or goods to help make the tournament a first-rate event. Thirty-eight four-member captain-and-crew golf teams (152 individual golfers) were well-supported as nearly two-dozen volunteers from Carthage Area Hospital and the community helped to manage tournament operations and logistics.
Rankings for the day were: A flight — 1st place, Northern Credit Union (55); second place, R. Taylor (58). B flight — 1st place, WCP Consultants (65); second place, Kinney Drugs (66). C flight — 1st place, United Professional Advisors; second place, CREG Systems. Closest to the hole: Men’s — L.J. Hapanowicz, Team Bonadio (4’ 5”); Women’s — Dr. Emily Miller, Team Rohr (10’ 7”).
The foundation and hospital also thank the many other businesses that invested support, including: LUNCO Corp., Crouse Health, New York Air Brake, Ms. Anne Rohr, Fulelr Insurance Agency Inc., Synergy Surgicalists, Community Bank N.A., Westelcom, Carthage Area Hospital Medical Staff, LifeNet of New York AirMethods, CREG Systems, Bousquet Holstein PLLC, Bowers & Company CPAs, Northern New York Community Foundation, Elizabeth Wende Breast Care, Upstate Brain & Spine Center, OneGroup New York, The Bonadio Group CPAs, Consultants & More, Martin’s Point HealthCare, New York Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush, M.S. Hall Associates, RBC Wealth Management, Mr. Kent Burto, Johnson Lumber LLC, Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company, Northwestern Mutual — Brian Wilcox, Barrett Paving Materials Inc., COCC, Stebbins Engineering & Manufacturing, DAF Office Networks Inc., Patty & Tim Turpin, Pleasant Night Inn, Newzcliq, Bimbo Bakeries USA, Fidelis Care, Reinhart Foodservice and Dunkin Donuts.
While no golfer walked away with a hole-in-one prize, contest sponsors Caskinette Ford provided a 2017 Ford Mustang and Gamble Distributers provided a side-by-side utility vehicle.
Golfers again this year experienced a twist as they tested their skills against comedian Vinnie Mark to outshoot him on the sixth hole for a chance to beat the comic. The foundation provided golfers with a healthy snack bag, a complimentary lunch and Italian buffet dinner, as well as a commemorative Bluetooth wireless speaker.
Foundation leadership also thanks Carthage Savings Golf Classic committee members who freely gave time volunteering to plan, coordinate and execute the event — Michelle Ames, Teri Ellis, Ken Eysaman, Adam Fuller, Wendy Hinman, Vicky Moore, Barb Park, Taylour Scanlin, Cheryl Schroy, and Patty and Tim Turpin.
