The all-volunteer hospital auxiliary presented Carthage Area Hospital CEO Rich Duvall with a check during its annual meeting April 27 at the West Carthage Municipal Building.

“We appreciate the support of our very dedicated auxiliary. Our hospital is made stronger each day because of people like our volunteers who support our mission,” Duvall said. “Whenever the hospital needs something — big or small — our auxiliary never fails to answer the call to give. For that and so much more, we are sincerely grateful.”

The auxiliary also honored longtime member Michel Camidge, presenting her with a certificate of appreciation as its “Senior Volunteer” for her 25 years of volunteer service to the hospital. Camidge began volunteering at the hospital in 1988 and has continued off and on since.

“I am honored and humbled,” she said as auxiliary member Ann Hancock presented her with the award. “The hospital is a tremendous asset to the Carthage community. We are very lucky to have it here and it needs our support.” Camidge will continue to serve as the auxiliary’s vice president for the 2017-2018 year as well.

About the CAH Auxiliary

The Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary is comprised of men and women who volunteer to support the hospital and believe that it’s an integral part of their communities. Through their efforts, the auxiliary helps to purchase much-needed hospital equipment.

The auxiliary presents opportunities to interact with and meet new people, try out skills and uncover hidden talents to make valuable, personal contributions that help to improve the hospital. How much a member volunteers is up to the individual — a few hours a day, week, or month, or on a special project.

The cost to join is minimal: $5 for regular membership; $4 senior citizen and $50 for life membership. The auxiliary also manages the hospital gift shop, which provides moderately priced merchandise for staff and patients.

Contact the Auxiliary Membership Committee, 315-493-1000, ext. 5207, to learn more about becoming an auxiliary member.
